Astral Dive 6: Third Eye Tunneling, a Primer on Nonlocal Visual Meditation

Light signals waking, darkness signals dreaming. They are simultaneous in visual meditation.

As good as I am with math, as curious as I am about science, there isn’t any math or science that can explain away or diminish the experience of inner light. I’m unsure how many people, if any, have performed light experiments with their eyes only to come to the conclusion that the third eye is real. But what does that mean? Historically it refers to an inner eye or inner visualization. Usually it is associated with spirituality or meditation and scientists would typically consider any such experience a phenomenon of the brain, a neurochemical experience or an induced chemical experience. They’re stuck with the idea that the experience of inner light is merely memory or some neurological process that mimics light. At the basis of their worldview is a mechanical universe that can be explained and essentially explained away. I know firsthand that the visualizations during my meditations are not local - meaning not inside my skull . They are an experience at the least of a visual field. And so at this point it is easier to rely on the definition of a third eye to explain the phenomenal experience of the visual lightshow I’ve tapped into during hypnagogia.

The third eye is not located inside the skull. The experience is of a field of light without a boundary.

When I say that hypnagogic or third eye visualization is not inside the skull, I also do not mean that it is in a field located around the head. This field looks like flattened, geometrical surfaces moving and shapeshifting at the speed of light, and yet it has no boundaries whatsoever. It is nowhere and everywhere. We mistake our idea of “here” with actually being located in a real and definite place. Yet there is no definite place in a universe that is not a definite place. If we adjust our attitude about location, we can accept the idea that a third eye is not a thing and can’t be reduced to a set of neurons or a data set from a brainwave analysis. The third eye, in my mathematical opinion, is a saddle point of consciousness. What does this mean?

I often see what look like overlaid geometrical patterns with a pupil-like black hole tunnel, which by looking into it, I enter. I believe these are saddle points or minimax points in the field of consciousness. Art inspired by third eye, hypnagogia meditation.

A saddle point is just like the center point on a horse saddle. While it is the low point of a parabola along the spine of the horse, it is the high point of the parabola at right angles along the back. These right angle parabolas meet at saddle points, which are also called minimax points, as they are both and neither.

This is where the intriguing parallels between quantum tunneling and the mystical exploration of consciousness begin to unfold. Quantum tunneling defies classical boundaries, allowing particles to traverse barriers deemed insurmountable by conventional physics. Similarly, the experiences mediated by the third eye, particularly in the hypnagogic state, transcend the ordinary limits of perception and cognition. When we tunnel into the dark hole at the center of light, we travel, not necessarily outside of our skull, but to the saddle point of two surfaces where we are nowhere and everywhere.

In this light, the third eye serves not merely as a metaphor for inner vision but as a literal quantum portal to the probabilistic quantum universe, where the phenomenology of inner light and the principles of quantum tunneling and saddle points converge to illuminate the holographic tapestry of reality. And we can see it!
